Freddie Mole lives with his dad, who repairs washing machines, and his twin brother and sister. His mum works on cruise ships, cleaning cabins and so isn’t at home a huge amount. They don’t have very much money and so when the circus rolls into town and Freddie has the chance to spend his summer working there, he jumps at it.

Now, Freddie is a boy who is very kind, pleasant and hardworking and that can take you far in life. He starts out as the circus cleaner and then moves to be part of the trapeze act (which is quite scary) but then is asked to help the lion tamer with four fierce wild cats. Eek, he’s terrified. It takes all Freddie’s courage, but he discovers being a lion tamer is not at all what he anticipated.

This is a funny tale of courage, kindness and bravery.
