The Prince Who Walked With Lions
Discover the story of the childhood of Prince Alamayu of Abyssinia, a real person who lived at the time of Queen Victoria.
Alamayu’s comfortable life changes totally when the British army defeats his father and it is decided that he must go to Britain and learn how to be an English gentleman. Our hero has to travel far away without his family and servants and learn how to survive in a very different country. He’s faced with ignorance and bullying from adults and other children but also makes many friends, including Queen Victoria herself!
This is a great story about someone who has to be very brave and rely on their skills to overcome many obstacles. It can be sad at times but also very dramatic as Alamayu survives a terrifying battle and later has to fight for respect in a strange new country.
